Tips for tourists to Cairo

Saturday, February 24th, 2007

On my last trip to Cairo I spent a day in bed with severe food poisoning. I was completely miserable. Luckily someone had recommended I bring a prescription for Cipro with me. Severe stomach pains and/or diarhhea are common for travelers in this area. The medicine works well, although there are a lot of side effects. If you do a lot of traveling, I’d recommend getting a prescription of Cipro filled before you go and avoiding water, ice, fruits, vegetables and anything that doesn’t look like its been fully cooked. The drugs that we use here are hard to find in Egypt. If you do get sick, make sure you consult your doctor when you get home -you may have parasites.
