Hong Kong Markets

Saturday, February 24th, 2007

If your looking for that perfect faux Gucci purse or Rolexwatch, I recommend the Ladies Market (male and female items.) Its on the Kowloon side, and its close to the MTR (subway system.) You can buy shoes, t-shirts, watches, jewlery, clothes. For better quality faux items, look for stalls with catalog pages posted of designer purses and watches. If you take interest they’ll invite you up to their “office.” Although it seems a little sketchy its perfectly safe, they have to keep knock-offs in private residences. More likely than not, you’ll climb a flight of stairs and weave through several hallways and locked areas to get to a clean showroom. I purchased a TAG watch for $30, and its an exact replica of the real thing.

Hong Kong, where to stay

I recently stayed at the Grand Hyatt and J.W. Marriott on the island side. Both were superior hotels. The JW Marriott is connected to Pacific Palace Mall –which has upscale shopping and some nice restaurants. The Grand Hyatt is right on the water and offers a good view of the skyline and Kowloon side on a clear day.
